A poem

October 5th, 2009

What is music, really?

Sound waves bouncing off of objects?

Or is it a jumble of notes pouring out of the violin?

It could be the harmonic ups and downs of the choirs combined voices.

It might be the rush of feelings you get when the music speaks.

It is the weak sound of the young musician playing his instrument for the very first time.

It’s the ending note after a touching concert sweeping into a finale.

What’s a musician?

Is it the person who lives and breathes music?

The person who sees notes dancing in front of his vision?

It’s the person who truly feels the sounds entering his body making an impact on his life.

What does music mean to you?

Is it something like a waste of time?

Or,

is it what you live for, what you look forward to each and every day.

How to Make Homemade Reese’s® Peanut Butter Cups

Making these is very easy! If you are 12 or older you could probably do it yourself, here are the ingredients!

Ingredients:

12 paper muffin cups

one 11.5 or 12 oz package of milk chocolate chips

1 cup of peanut butter (reduced fat or regular)

1/2 cup of confectioners powdered sugar

1/4 teaspoon of salt

Instructions

1. Cut the top half of the muffin cups off so they aren’t as deep

2. Pour ALL of the chocolate chips into a microwavable bowl. Microwave them on 50% for 2 minutes. Take it out and stir gently. If the chocolate needs more time to melt put the bowl in for 30 second intervals, stirring after each time. Be careful not too overcook the chocolate!!!

3. Using a teaspoon take some chocolate and put into each cup spreading it all over the entire inside of the muffin cup, make sure you fully coat it! Do the same for the other 11, and put those in a muffin tin and in the fridge. Put them in the fridge for at least 20 minutes. Make sure the cups are no longer flimsy before taking them out of fridge! Note: Do not use all of the chocolate. Only use enough to coat the inside of cups!

4. Combine the peanut butter, confectioners sugar, and salt in a microwavable bowl and stir to make smooth.

5. When the chocolate in the muffin cups has hardened in the cup put the bowl with peanut butter, sugar, and salt in the microwave on full power for 1 minute. This step is crucial to making a good Reese’s® peanut butter cup.

6. Spoon some peanut butter into the cups leaving about 1/2 of an inch left at the top for a chocolate covering. Repeat for all cups… then place them in the fridge for an hour or so to harden the peanut butter.

7. When the peanut butter is hardened take the extra chocolate you have and reheat it in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds on 50% power. Put the reheated chocolate on top of the hardened peanut butter filling it to the top. Repeat for all cups. Put the finished cups in the fridge for about a half hour.

8. Take out and enjoy!!!

School :(

September 9th, 2009

Yes, unfortunately, I started my first day of school yesterday… Although I was in a new grade (8th grade) it still felt as though I was just going to go back to my old home room. Of course, I didn’t, I went to my new one. Everything was basically the same except harder… obviously lol. I’m sorry if I sound really boring but my life just isn’t very interesting right now. =)…….

Whale Watching!!!

August 20th, 2009

Yesterday, August 19th, my Dad and I went on the hyannis whale watch. It was really really cool! We saw whales that were like ten feet ahead of us!!! There were whales like the humpback whales and fin-back whales! Twice a whale had it’s fin above the water and turned over onto it’s back! Then like three times a whale had it’s mouth above the water. And then the grand finale, we saw about 20 or more dolphins surfing in the wake of the boat!!! Amazing, right?! Have you ever been on a whale watch??? How was it???

The Newport Mansions

August 16th, 2009

This Saturday August 15th I went to the Newport Mansions in Rhode Island with some friends. The Newport mansions are a group of mansions in an area that are from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Some that we went to were called: The Breaker, Chateau Sur Mer, The Marble House, and the RoseCliffe. In my opinion the Breaker mansion was the best. It was by far the biggest!!! It was amazing to know that right where you walked someone else had walked too a hundred years ago; maybe on their way to a fancy ball, in an elegant dress. Some houses had a Victorian theme, or a french style. The rooms on the inside were beyond amazing!!! The bedrooms were gigantic, and heavily decorated. The furniture was handcrafted and made by the very best at the time. Some walls were covered with silk or leather instead of the usual wallpaper. I definitely think that if you live near Rhode Island or are planning to go somewhere near R.I. then go there!!! Here are some pictures of the fabulous mansions!!!

I went to Vermont like a week ago and here are some pics!!!! Do you see the picture of a white house? Yeah, that’s actually a school! Also, it’s for kids going into pre-school to 5th grade!!! The middle school isn’t much bigger!!! lol The brown house is the cabin I stayed in. My grandpa and a lot of other people helped build it in like 2001. It has no indoor plumbing or cell phone service! Unbelievable right?! While we were there we went to a flea market. They have some pretty interesting things there!!! We also went trekking through the woods and in a creek for over a mile!!! lol All in all it was a good time!!!!

My cousin ben ready for anything with his bb gun

it is possibly the smallest school I\'ve ever seen!!!

Fourth of July

July 4th, 2009

Today is the fourth of July in the U.S.A. It was back in 1776 when a bunch of guys signed a document called the Declaration of Independence that said they were no longer part of Great Britian. The people that wrote it were Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin also invented the bifocals or glasses. Some people that signed the Declaration of Independence were John Hancock and Samuel Adams. People usually go see fireworks or have cookouts. So, Happy Fourth of July!

Wheel of fortune!!!

June 28th, 2009

Last night me and my mom traveled to Marlborough, and slept over at a hotel called Embassy Suites. We stayed up until like eleven o’clock watching a movie and eating junk food. It was soo much fun! Then we checked out of the hotel today. After we went to the local mall there. Outside we saw the Wheel of Fortune bus!!! My mom revealed the surprise, we were going to audition for Wheel of Fortune!!! Well, I wasn’t since I’m only 13, but my mom was going too. So, we waited in line for over 2 hours playing boggle, a word game. Finally, they handed out applications. Then we traveled to a different room where the mini wheel of fortune games would take place. There we stood for about an hour and a half until it started! Finally they started by pulling names out of this thing! They took 5 people at each interval. Those 5 people tried to solve one puzzle and were all given souvenirs. They were also given a chance to get a chance to get on the actual show!!! They did about 7 rounds and there was probably around a 1000 people waiting for their name to be picked. Unluckily, my moms name was not picked, but we had a great time!

The Zoo☺

June 27th, 2009

very friendly!!!

These are two of the many animals at my dad’s friends house. The rabbit is named Fiona and is soooo cute!!! omg, and it’s really friendly. The next picture is of bobo, a very affectionate bird! I got to hold both of them. but bobo tried to fly away:( lol Also, it’s not really a zoo, there’s just soo many animals it seems like one! Another animal they have is a teacup terrier named Britney. She NEVER calms down! She’ s always all jumpy and crazy; and she’s incredibly small! Do you have any animals at your house?
